A Story Driven by Revenge
Unlike some dramas I have seen, this series moves at a remarkably good pace. Although it has a total of 108 episodes, the plot rarely drags. The show is intense from the very first episode, focusing on a woman named Yeon Hwa who is framed for the murder of her fiancé’s sister, Yoon Hee.
The story begins with Yeon Hwa in jail serving her sentence, planning a desperate escape to confront the woman who framed her—Yoo Ra. Because the drama starts with such high stakes, every episode remains full of suspense. Personally, I felt for Yeon Hwa and wanted her to succeed in her revenge from the beginning. While revenge doesn’t bring true happiness in real life, I couldn’t help but cheer her on in this fictional world.
Obsession and Betrayal
The core conflict revolves around Yoo Ra’s obsession with Yoon Jae. Since they were children, Yoo Ra has been enamored by him, leading her to hate anyone he dates. Specifically, once she discovers that Yeon Hwa is dating him, her ruthlessness knows no bounds.
Following a tragic car accident where Yoo Ra accidentally hits Yoon Jae’s sister, she sees a perfect opportunity to make Yeon Hwa disappear. Consequently, with the help of her influential father and a corrupt police officer, she successfully frames Yeon Hwa for the crime, leading to a three-year prison sentence.
The Mystery of Zorba
Throughout the drama, Yeon Hwa struggles to clear her name. Fortunately, she finds help through a character known as “Zorba.” While it is complicated to explain every detail of his role, he essentially provides her with the hope and resources needed for her revenge.
Furthermore, many fans—including myself—hoped for Yeon Hwa and Zorba to end up together. However, the ending takes a bittersweet turn. While some viewers wanted her to return to Yoon Jae, the final scene shows her at peace and alone, suggesting that Zorba still holds a special place in her heart.
The Meaning Behind the Title
Regarding the title, “Ice Adonis” feels much more fitting than “Yellow Boots.” According to the drama, the Ice Adonis is a flower that withstands harsh weather and survives regardless of the conditions. Similarly, the main character shows incredible strength and courage to reveal the truth, despite how much she has lost.
One development in the show that I found really cute was the budding relationship between Soo Ae and Tae Il. They’re such a cute couple.

Thanks for the review. Its a nice drama and im glad at the end the devil ones see the result of their action and justice is served but the beginning of the movie was TERRIBLE !!! I couldnt stand what yoo Ra was doing and put so much stress on me! And anyway i just cant belive zorba dies! I hated yoon jae he didnt deserve yeon hwa’s love but zorba did a lot for her and it was unfair !

The main flower… The “revenge/vengeance” flower, is yellow (“no-ran”). And “bok-su” is the Korean word for revenge. “no-ran bok-su-cho” is essentially the name of the flower – which has a meaning (as most flowers do), that is not only relevant to, but explained thoroughly in the beginning and throughout the show. In English, this flower is called “Ice Adonis”, which has a name affiliated with Greek mythology, and also revenge, more or less – though I’m not sure if that has any relevance to the show, or if it is simply the Asian meaning of the flower that does. In any case, I’m pretty sure that “Yellow Boots” is a title that is very lost in translation. Which is why viewers are confused about the English title, in my opinion. Not every translation is literal. I think this drama should be recognized as “Ice Adonis” and not “Yellow Boots”…
