Materials:
1. Brown, and white yarn.
2. Buttons for eyes.
3. Darning needle.
4. Scissors.

NEWBORN (TO FIT 13.5″ CIRCUMFERENCE):
R1: ch 3; 10 dc in the 3rd chain from the hook; sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [10]
R2: ch 2, 2 dc in each st around, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [20]
R3: ch 2, (2 dc in the first st, 1 dc in the next st) 10 x, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [30]
R4: ch 2, (2 dc in the first st, 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts) 5 x, 1 dc in each remaining st around; sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [35]
R5: ch 2, 1 dc in each st around, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [35]
R6-R9: repeat R5 [35]
R10: 1 sl st (loosely as this is a decorative edge) in each st around, finish off and weave in ends [30]
I used white yarn for the hat but you can also use light brown or a cream colored yarn. I also did a row of single crochets at the end with brown yarn.
Ears:
1. With brown yarn. Chain 11.
2. 5dc in 3rd chain from the hook. 1dc in the next 7 chains. 5dc in the last chain. From here you are going to work in the back of the dcs you just did. 1dc in the next 7 chains. Sl st with the first dc you created.
3. Repeat with other ear.
4. Sew onto head.
Eye spot:
1. With brown yarn. 6sc in magic circle. [6]
2. 2sc in each st around. [12]
3. Sew onto hat before attaching the button for the eyes.
4. Attach the eye. Make sure they are centered.
Nose and mouth:
1. Embroider with brown yarn.

BOOT (make 2)
Ch 9.
Round 1: Work 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, dc in next 5ch, 6 dc in last ch, turn to work along opposite side of beginning ch, dc in next 5 ch, 3 dc in last ch, slip st in top of beginning ch to join. – 22 sts
Round 2: Ch 2, hdc in same st as slip st, 2 hdc in each of next 2 dc, hdc in next 5 dc, 2 hdc in each of next 6 dc, hdc in next 5 dc, 2 hdc in each of next 3 dc, slip st in top of beginning ch to join. – 34 sts
Round 3: Ch 2, hdc through back loop in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 34 sts
Round 4: Ch 2, hdc in next 8 sts, [dc2tog] 8 times, hdc in next 9 sts, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 26 sts
Round 5: Ch 2, hdc in next 8 sts, [dc2tog] 4 times, hdc in next 9 sts, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 22 sts
Round 6: Ch 2, hdc in next 8 sts, [dc2tog] 2 times, hdc in next 9 sts, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 7: Ch 2, dc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 8: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 9: Ch 1, sc in each st around, slip st to top of beginning ch to join. – 20 sts
Round 10: Slip st in each st around. – 20 sts
Fasten off.
Bottom of boots:
1. With brown yarn. 6sc in magic circle. [6]
2. 2sc in each st around. [12]
3. (1sc in the first st. 2sc in the next st.) x 6 [18]
4. Hdc in the first st. 2dc in the next 2st. Hdc in next st. Sl st into the next st. FO and sew onto the bottom of the boot.
5. Make 2.
6. Embroider the rest of the paw at the bottom of the boot.
