Crochet Your Own Niffler!

Materials:

1. Size F hook
2. 0.5 inch shank buttons for the eyes
3. Black, brown and light brown yarn
4. Stuffing
5. Darning needle and scissors

**Don’t forget to stuff along the way.**

Head and Body:

1. With brown yarn. 6sc in magic circle. (6)
2. 2sc in each st. (12)
3. (1sc in st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (18)
4. (1sc in next 2st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (24)
5. (1sc in next 3st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (30)
6. (1sc in next 4st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (36)
7. 1sc in each st. For 7 rows. (36)
8. In the first 18st (1sc in st. 2sc in st.). 1sc in the rest of the 18st. (45)
9. (1sc in next 4st. 2sc in st.) x 9. (54)
10. 1sc in each st. For 7 rows. (54)

Eyes:

Use small shank buttons or safety eyes for the eyes. Use yarn to insert them. Make sure that the eyes are centered and placed just above the beak. For the area around the yes I used light brown yarn. Chain 10, FO. and sew around the eyes as shown in the video. I used a backstitch.

Beak:

1. With light brown color. Chain 4.
2. We are going to create an oval shape. 1sc in second chain from hook. 1sc in next chain. 3sc in last chain. Add a marker in the middle of the 3sc. We are now going to turn our work and continue crocheting in the back of the chain. 1sc in each back chain except the last chain. 3sc in the last chain. Add a marker in the middle of the 3sc. We are going to keep repeating this process until we get up to 14st.
3. 1sc in each st. For 3 rows. (14)
4. (1sc in next 6st. 2sc in st.) x 2. (16)
5. 1sc in each st. For 2 rows. (16)
6. (1sc in next 3st. 2sc in st.) x 4. (20)
7. (1sc in next 3st. 2sc in st.) x 5. (25)
8. 3hdc in st. 1sc in next 3st. Hdc. 2hdc. Hdc. 1sc in next 3st. 3hdc in st. 1sc in the rest of the st.
9. FO. Stuff and sew onto the face using a backstitch.
10. With black color. Embroider the nostrils.

Arms (Make 2):

1. With brown color. 6sc in magic circle. (6)
2. 2sc in each st. (12)
3. 1sc in each st. For 2 rows. (12)
4. (1sc in st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (18)
5. 1sc in each st. For 8 rows. (18)
6. Change to light brown yarn. 1sc in each st. For 3 rows. (18)
7. Create the fingers. Please see the images and video for guidance.
8. Sew the arms onto the body using a whip stitch.

Legs (Make 2):

1. With brown color. 6sc in magic circle. (6)
2. 2sc in each st. (12)
3. (1sc in st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (18)
4. (1sc in next 2st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (24)
5. 1sc in each st. For 11 rows. (24)
6. Change to light brown. 1sc in each st. For 2 rows. (24)
7. FO.

Bottom Part of Feet (Make 2):
1. With light brown color. 6sc in magic circle. (6)
2. 2sc in each st. (12)
3. (1sc in st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (18)
4. (1sc in next 2st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (24)
5. FO. Create the feet. Please see the images and the video for guidance.

Once all the leg and feet parts are complete, sew onto body using a whip stitch.

Pouch:
1. With brown color. Chain 2.
2. 3sc in the second chain from the hook. (3)
3. Chain 1. Turn. 2sc in each st. (6)
4. Chain 1. Turn. (1sc in st. 2sc in st.) x 3. (9)
5. Chain 1. Turn. (1sc in next 2st. 2sc in st.) x 3. (12)
6. Chain 1. Turn. (1sc in next 3st. 2sc in st.) x 3. (15)
7. Chain 1. Turn. (1sc in next 4st. 2sc in st.) x 3. (18)
8. Chain 1. Turn. (1sc in next 5st. 2sc in st.) x 3. (21)
9. 2sc in that last stitch you were just on. Then turn onto the back of your work. You are now going to work single crochets into this edge. Please see video for guidance.
10. FO. Sew onto the belly using a whip stitch. Make sure it is centered.

Tail:
1. With brown color. 6sc in magic circle. (6)
2. 2sc in each st. (12)
3. (1sc in st. 2sc in st.) x 6. (18)
4. 1sc in each st. For 3 rows. (18)

7. FO. Stuff and sew onto doll using a whip stitch.
