Hi, I just wanted to tell you that you are such a gifted crocheter! I admire your creativity and generosity of sharing your talent with us viewers. I have made several little white “totoro” “ghosts” based on a tutorial that you put up on You Tube a while ago. I just have so much fun making them. Now, this new grey Totoro! I can’t wait to try making it. Thanks so much!

What does it mean to “pick up” stitches? I don’t understand. And when I tried looking it up it seemed like it was only for knitting

Robyn, If you follow this this tutorial of hers, you can learn how to pick up stitches: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm9xuh2Onh8&list=PL7E4C61559BB5D88B&index=9
I had to learn it to make my sackboy, but it works wherever. I’m actually going to incorporate this technique more, as I hate sewing and I don’t really know how to do it.
