I am a wife, a mom and a blogger. I was once a YouTuber. I guess I still am but I don’t post regularly anymore. I started my YouTube channel in 2009 under the name of Fullmetalpiglet where I posted a couple of makeup reviews. After a few months I realized that makeup reviews wasn’t what I wanted to do.
I had been into crocheting and knitting since I was little. My mom taught my sister and I how to crochet and knit. I used that knowledge and created my own dolls. I posted a tutorial on how to make a Sackboy and I was surprised that people were actually watching it and commenting. I changed my name to GoldenJellyBean and created another channel dedicated to crafts. And I also created my website and my shop on Etsy.
My YouTube channel was starting to pick up and I was even made partner about a year after I started YouTube. But I was also busy with school and work. Someone even offered to manage my brand. I had to choose between starting a career and following my passion. In this day and age, it is tough to let go of a career, let alone start one. I had to choose between earning a living and becoming a starving artist.
I chose to earn a living.
It pained me to let go of YouTube like that. I still posted here and there, but it wasn’t like before. When I was at school I didn’t have the stress of having patients. I didn’t worry about working the next day. I didn’t have to worry about losing my job. YouTube, to me, was the ideal job in a non-ideal world.
So now I spend most of my free time blogging and documenting various parts of my life. I tend to be more private about what I share. I want to keep the drama of life out of the internet. You’ll typically find reviews on my website, be it a movie I have seen, or a product I have used or have been sent to me. I also have a section carved out for family topics such as pregnancy, relationships and parenting. Feel free to browse through and I hope you find something interesting here.
