Review: Foxblossom Co. Soy Candles
My husband and I love burning candles. Since soy candles are better for our health, I thought to try out Foxblossom Co. soy candles. Candles you buy from Yankee Candle are made of paraffin. Paraffin is a byproduct of petroleum. Another name for paraffin is kerosene. When paraffin is burned it releases a carcinogenic soot that is harmful to our lungs. You can even see the black stain it leaves on the glass container holding the candle. Surely we didn’t want to expose ourselves and Zoey to this type of pollution. Soy candles are petro-carbon soot free and they burn longer. In the long run, you will be saving money and your health by burning soy candles.
Foxblossom is run by five women and was founded by Amanda Deighan. Their company headquarters is in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Foxblossom candles come in these scents, Jamaican Sunset, Lavender, Birthday Cake, White Tea, Black Raspberry, Mint Mojito, Rose, Eucalyptus & Spearmint, Vetiver & Bergamot, Rose & Honey, Bride’s Bouquet and Earl Grey Tea. They hand pour all of their candles, trim the wicks by hand and label each jar by hand. The soy candles are made of 100% soy wax which come from soy beans grown here in the US. The scents used in their candles are composed of essential oils that are phthalate free.
I myself chose Lavender and Birthday Cake. Foxblossom was kind enough to send these two to us. I love clean scents and those that smell like you had just baked something. These two scents were perfect for us. The candles smelled great right out of the box. The candles, once burned, don’t have an overwhelming scent. They emit a clean scent in the home. There’s no soot coming out of the candle so I know that it’s not harmful in any way. I burned the lavender candle for a good 2 hours in the kitchen. I left the kitchen for a little while and went in again. I could smell the aroma of lavender emanating from the kitchen. It’s a great way to freshen up a room without using harmful sprays or paraffin candles. I’m definitely going to keep burning only soy candles in our house.
These soy candles are a great gift for birthdays or Christmas. I received these small tins and I think they are adorable. They are packaged nicely and you can close the tin after you’re finished burning the candles. They also have the larger ceramic soy candles that look amazing. After you finish the entire candle, it can double as a vase or it can hold anything you’d like.
Foxblossom’s Kickstarter campaign is to help their business grow and to provide us with high quality soy candles. Here’s their page: Foxblossom Co. Soy Candles. Please support this budding business in an effort to spread clean candles throughout the world. Paraffin candles are a thing of the past. With all the problems our environment has to face, we can help a little by burning clean candles.
