Feature: Pepper Zhang: Artist Extraordinaire! A Children’s Book

Here is a children’s book I’d love to read to my daughter. None of the books we have feature Asian children. And if the book does have Asian characters, they’re not the main character. I always get excited when I see these types of books. Zoey is half Asian and I want to expose her to books she can relate to. I’ve been wanting to find Filipino books for Zoey but they’re so hard to find here in the US. With Kickstarter we can take matters in to our own hands and make diverse books for our children. Jerry Zhang did just that.

Pepper Zhang is a book about a little Chinese girl who goes on an amazing journey. It’s written by Jerry Zhang and illustrated by Trisha Hautea. It’s about how Pepper learns to express her emotions through art. The story is inspired by Zhang’s daughter, Madison. The book is meant to be the first of a series of Pepper Zhang books.

Jerry Zhang needs our help to publish Pepper Zhang: Artist Extraordinaire! Here is the link to support the book: Pepper Zhang Kickstarter. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to read this book to my daughter.
