Movie Review: The Lego Batman Movie

Whenever a sequel comes out after a great movie, I expect it to fall far below my expectations. This movie, however, surprised me. It wasn’t as consistently amazing as the first one but this one did not disappoint. It just screams epic all over it because it does a whole lot of references to many movies/shows including Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Dr. Who, King Kong and the other marvel films. It referenced the old Batman movies which I don’t remember much of. It’s been a while I’ve seen them. The one Batman reference that was so funny came from the old show and comics, where they had the words, “POW” and “WHAM” on the screen as they fought bad guys.

The movie started great and it was very upbeat. They wrote the funniest songs for Batman and I laughed so hard when he was singing them. I don’t remember laughing this hard when I saw the first movie. I just couldn’t help it. The lines where hilarious. The movie dragged a little bit in the middle but it picked up towards the end.

I thought that this movie had a lot of references geared towards younger adults and up. I noticed there were children in the movie theater and that they probably didn’t understand many of the references. All in all, this was a great movie to watch with your kids.
