Review: Gods of Egypt

This was a pretty cool movie just because of the costumes, the fancy theatrics and the special effects. The story was somewhat interesting to me too but it was the acting that was lacking. The actors weren’t very good and the one of main character’s plunging neckline proved that they had to show cleavage for this movie to be interesting to some people. I wish they would have written a more interesting plot-line and hired better actors. Some scenes were awkward to watch. Egyptian mythology is so interesting and they could really have done more with this movie.

The story is about Horus, god of the sky and a couple (Bek and Zaya). Horus’ father is about to hand him the throne when his uncle shows up and and ruins everything. Uncle kills father and takes Horus’ eyes. So the entire movie is the uncle taking over and Horus trying to get his eyes back with the help of Bek. The movie has a simple plot but doesn’t fail to entertain.

There’s really nothing much else to say about this movie except to just see it for yourselves. I hope that if they make a sequel that they at least get better actors or a better story. Let me know what you think.

Audience: PG-13
Epic factor: 8
Acting: 5
Story: 5
Direction: 7
Would I recommend: No

*Note: Based on a scale from 1 to 10. 1 being the worst and 10 being the best you could get in a category.
