Review: The Hateful Eight
From the trailer the movie looked really good. Since it was a Quentin Tarantino film I was expecting it to be this big creative film. Action is also a big thing for me when it comes to his films. His movies also have a lot of blood with bits and pieces of grossness added into there.
Story-wise it’s pretty simple. The movie is divided into 6 chapters which reminded me of Kill Bill. The font was even the same. I thought the story was going to be more involved. At some point it was more like a western whodunnit or a western Clue. I mean, I don’t mind it because I really like movies with a mystery theme to it. There was also this one disgusting scene in it which wasn’t really too out of place because it’s a Tarantino movie. This makes me wonder what goes on in his mind. To think of stuff like that, he must have a very odd way of thinking through things. That scene took the rating down about a couple points for me because it wasn’t really necessary. I didn’t find it amusing either. Also, Channing Tatum being in the movie didn’t really appeal to me at all. I think that he is over rated and I don’t understand what people like about him so much. He doesn’t really add much to this movie at all. I was glad that he didn’t have much of a part in the movie.
I would have liked the movie to have had more of a development with the story and the characters. 3 hours is a long time to be sitting in the theater and this movie didn’t really make the 3 hours worth it. I hope his next movie will be more worth watching in the theater.
John Wayne factor: 10
Would I recommend: Yes
