Relationship Stuff

There are times when it may seem like everything is perfect but life intervenes and what seems perfect is now broken. After watching WongFu’s short film, Somewhere Like This, it reminded me of how delicate relationships are. Watching this was like watching my own life and what happened once upon a time when I was in love. It’s funny how things work out or don’t work out. It’s these things that happen in life that you never forget and always somehow creep up on you when you least expect it to. Of course, being written and directed by Wesley Chan, it brought tears to my eyes. He knows how to tug at the heartstrings of many.

In life, as I’ve learned over the years, we have to appreciate what we have and not take them for granted. So when we look back, there are no regrets. However, life does not work out that way for everyone. There’s always a tinge of regret that maybe we should have done things one way and maybe things might have turned out differently. But we learn and next time we will be wiser. As with this video, I’ve had the long-distance relationship and it ended a few years later. This is why I felt so attached to this short film. I still watch this video once in a while to reminisce on what has past. It’s nice to think of those good memories now and then.

I used to be really sad about how things turned out but now I realized that things turned out that way because it wasn’t meant to be. Things happen for a reason, I always tell myself. It’s what’s gotten me through many times. Recently though, I saw Silver Linings Playbook and it changed my outlook on relationships. There was something about that movie that made me not worry about being single. I don’t know what it was. It might have been the fact that I could relate a little bit with the characters. In the crazy whirlwind of things that happened in their lives, they still managed to find each other.

So yeah, I’ve been rambling too much about this. It’s probably a little too girly for some of you reading this post (lol). If you guys feel like sharing anything please comment 🙂

Long distance almost always never works.
